Joško Ožbolt received his Ph.D. from the University of Zagreb in 1982. From 1982-89 he was assistant Professor at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering (Croatia). During his doctoral study he spent one year at the TNO Institute, Delft (The Netherlands) and as the post-doctoral student he spent one year at the Northwestern University, Evanston (USA). In 1989 he moved to the University of Stuttgart (Germany), where he in 1995 finished his postdoctoral thesis. Since 1995 he is associate Professor at the University of Stuttgart and in 2002 he obtained a part-time Professorship at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Civil Engineering (Croatia). The main field of his interest includes computational mechanics, static and dynamic fracture of materials and structures and durability mechanics. In the framework of his research activities he was leader of a number of scientific projects. He is a member of fib Commision 4, TG 4.1, TG 4.3 and TG 4.4 and RILEM, Technical Committee 227-HPB. He served in Editorial boards of International Journal Computers & Concrete, Techno press, 2004-10 and in the International Journal for Engineering Modeling, University of Split, Croatia, since 1987.
